Examination and servicing are different
Thorough Examination is a systematic assessment of lifting equipment by a competent person. It is separate from routine servicing and repairs. A recent service does not, by itself, replace the examination required for lifting equipment.
IVS carries out Thorough Examinations as a CFTS-accredited company. Contact the team with the equipment details, location and existing examination due dates to arrange yours.
Plan dates and access
Maintain an equipment register, keep previous examination reports available and identify any attachments used with the truck. Tell the team about site induction, access and operating restrictions when arranging attendance.
The required examination interval depends on the equipment and its use, or a competent person’s examination scheme. Refer to HSE guidance on Thorough Examination and the advice given for your equipment.
Act on the findings
Keep reports and follow up any defects or required actions. Where unsafe equipment is identified, follow the report and your safety procedures before returning it to use.
